Any youth above age 13 is
eligible to join the TACAS Youth Symphony. The
purpose of TACAS Youth Symphony is to introduce
cultural Chinese music to the public while using
traditional western orchestral instruments. Our
mission is to promote cultural exchange to the public
and to spread cultural awareness to younger
generation. The group had its first performance
in 2002 at the annual TACAS Chinese New Year
Festival. Since then, the orchestra has grown
and become an accomplished symphony, even having the
honor of being invited to perform at Governor's
mansion for the last four years. Our young
musicians also participate in many community service
functions - performing for local retirement homes,
museums and much more.
TACAS Youth Symphony is
managed by the orchestral youth, as member elect their
own executive board to lead and manage the group's
activities and schedule. The music director of
TACAS youth symphony is Mr. Yiying Qiao of Cary
Academy.
