Dance Party
TACAS Rainbow Club and CAFA jointly
held the annual Christmas Dance Party for TACAS and CAFA members and
friends. This joint party is the largest dance party ever in the Triangle
area. Many people traveled from Greensboro and other NC Areas to join us. |

TACAS
Youth Symphony was honorable invited to perform at NC Governor Mansion again this year. Youths and their chaperones gathered at the Governors Mansion that morning and watched an unexpected terror
alert. The Mansion was forced to close and thus the event was cancelled. Nevertheless, Youth Symphony had a great season of rehearsals.

Festival
TACAS representing Chinese ethnic
group is participating again this year at the State Fairgrounds – Dorton Arena.
TACAS participating areas include 1) Cultural Exhibit, 2) Demonstrations,
3) Center Stage Performance, 4) Young People Dance, 5) Shadow Puppet Show,
6) Village Square Yo-Yo and Lion Dance Performance, 7) Coffee House Chinese
Music Ensemble, 8) Chinese Cooking Demo, 9) International Bazaar and 10)Sidewalk Cafe.

10/02/2004: FCC Mid-Autumn Moon Festival TACAS supported 74 FCC Families in celebrating this very traditional
Chinese Festival at Raleigh Lake Johnson Community Center. TACAS provided
traditional moon cakes. TACAS youths and Raleigh Chinese Language School
(RCLS) dance class provided Puppet Show and Chinese Dance demonstration. |

2004, Annual Meeting and Board Election was held at Royal China Restaurant.
New Advisory Council members, Executive Officers and Directors are elected

04/03/2004: TACAS and Exploris'
China On Tour Exhibit
China On Tour exhibit at Exploris Museum open from April 3, 2004 till August 1, 2004. Many TACAS members
volunteered as Community Advisors to plan and support the Exhibit. TACAS
members, Youth Group and Raleigh Chinese Language School staff and students
provided traditional dances, music, and cultural performances on the
Opening Day and many weekends.
Many had
volunteered numerous hours as translators and greeters. Mrs. Anne Chang
received the Best Volunteer Award from Exploris. |

05/21,23/2004:
Performance at Turandot
opera Preshow
On
May 21 and 23, the Opera Company of North Carolina presented the Turandot
opera which is based on a Chinese folktale. Prior to each show, local
Chinese groups participated in a Preshow, which offered a variety of
performances on Chinese culture. TACAS members were involved in playing
traditional Chinese instruments, Chinese opera, folk dances, and singing. |

05/09/2004: TACAS Mother's Day Picnic
May
9, 2004, TACAS held its annual Mother's Day Picnic at Green Hope
Park. The menu included barbecue pork, pizza, lobster, and homemade
desserts. The Youth Symphony not only provided a short concert, but also
sold corsages and almond cookies. Many door prizes were handed out, and
Youth and children were invited to make a speech about their mother. |

held that evening in her honor. |

TACAS Book Club held a financial planning seminar, presented by Monling Liao. Afterwards, the Book Club
and Raleigh Chinese Language School held a joint information session during
which representatives from Exploris Museum presented the upcoming China On
Tour exhibit and called for volunteers to serve as translators and
guides. |

Chinese New Year's Show
TACAS ushered in the Year of the Monkey by holding its 2004
Chinese New Year's Show at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. The show
featured the Chinese opera "The Monkey King," an actress from
Japan who performed Chinese opera, and many local artist/performers. |
