Purpose: The TACAS Youth Leadership Scholarship Program is designed to
motivate high school
students of TACAS members to develop leadership skills for future
advancement in college while
pursuing academic, athletic, and artistic excellence. Qualified student
should maintain at least a
3.0 GPA, with sustained leadership demonstrated in the award evaluation
categories
Award: Up to four (4) $500 scholarships each year, to be used toward
tuition payment to a
college of student’s choice
Evaluation Categories (areas of achievement): Outstanding Academic
Achievement, Outstanding
Service Achievement, Outstanding Art Achievement, Outstanding Athletic
Achievement, and/or
other Special Talent Achievements
Timing: In the fall of each year awardees will be selected from the
applications received during
the application period
Applicants: Rising high school seniors
Application timeline: March 15 – June 15 each year
Application requirements: school transcript, an essay describing
student’s achievement, letters of recommendation (maximum of 2)
Application process: Applications
should be mailed to TACAS PO Box or
E-mail (preferred) to
ab_chairman@nctacas.org. The applications will be evaluated between
June 16 and August 15.
The finalists will be interviewed from August 16 thru September 1.
Winners will be
announced/recognized at the annual banquet. The evaluation, interview,
and announcement of
the scholarship recipients will be handled by an independent
Scholarship Committee assembled
by TACAS Advisory Board (AB)
Scholarship committee evaluation: June 16 – September 1, following the
application deadline.
Announcement/Recognition: Annual Banquet, 2nd weekend of September
Administration of the scholarship program: TACAS Advisory Board (AB).
